TORONTO – Canadians will be able to watch this year’s Eurovision Song Contest through OMNI Television.
The multilingual and multicultural television broadcaster says it will air the international music competition starting May 14 on OMNI.1 and stream it nationally on OMNITV.ca.
Eurovision is a hugely popular event known for campy performances and organized by the European Broadcasting Union, an alliance of public service broadcasters.
This year’s contest will take place in Tel Aviv, featuring artists from 41 countries.
Israel earned the right to host the 64th annual competition after Netta Barzilai won last year with the pop anthem “Toy.”
Other previous winners have included Quebec pop star Celine Dion, who won in 1988.
This year’s hosts will include supermodel Bar Refaeli, and TV personalities Erez Tal, Assi Azar, and Lucy Ayoub.
