Gesink leads in sprint finish to win Quebec City cycling grand prix

QUEBEC – Robert Gesink won the Grand Prix Cycliste de Quebec in a sprint finish on Friday.

Gesink, of the Belkin Pro Cycling team, poured it on in the final lap of the one-day race through city streets to pass race leader Peter Segan.

Gesink became the first rider with victories in both legs of the UCI WorldTour’s two stops in Canada. He won the Montreal race in 2010.

The Montreal event is on Sunday.
