Four months house arrest for man who harassed Carly Rae Jepsen

ABBOTSFORD, B.C. – A man who admitted to harassing Canadian pop star Carly Rae Jepsen by hacking into her email and social media accounts has been given a four-month conditional sentence.

Chilliwack, B.C., car dealer Christopher Long had pleaded guilty in May to mischief and possession of stolen property.

Long’s sentence includes a curfew that allows him to leave his home for work, school or to go to the doctor.

While he isn’t expected to serve jail time, unless he breaks his conditions, he will have a criminal record for the what the judge called an extreme invasion of privacy.

Police said in July 2012 they were investigating a complaint by Jepsen of unauthorized use of a computer and theft of telecommunications and in December they announced five charges against Long.

Jepsen, who’s from Mission, B.C., took home three trophies at the Juno Awards earlier this year for her smash hit “Call Me Maybe.” (CKNW)
