Person familiar with situation tells AP LeBron James marries longtime sweetheart in San Diego

A person familiar with the situation tells the Associated Press that LeBron James has married his longtime girlfriend, Savannah Brinson.

James and Brinson held the ceremony at the posh Grand Del Mar Hotel in San Diego on Saturday, less than three months after he won his second straight NBA title with the Miami Heat. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the wedding was private. The wedding took place in the hotel’s Capella Chapel, and is part of a three-day celebration that will conclude with a brunch on Sunday.

James and Brinson, 27, have been together since high school and have two children. James, 28, proposed back in January 2012 in South Beach, Fla.

James, a four-time NBA Most Valuable Player, and the Heat will open training camp next month. In June, they outlasted the San Antonio Spurs in seven games to capture their second championship in 13 months.
