Kamloops man arrested after allegedly robbing local hotel

KAMLOOPS – A 37-year-old Kamloops man has been arrested after allegedly robbing a North Shore hotel.

Kamloops RCMP Staff Sgt. Robert Daly said in a news release that police responded to a robbery call at the Holiday Inn and Suites in the 600 block of Tranquille Road at approximately 11 p.m. last night, Oct. 15.

A man wearing a cloth over his face entered the hotel lobby and demanded the cash till from the night clerk, Daly said.

The suspect did not produce a weapon and the clerk was shaken but unhurt. The suspect took the cash drawer and fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Daly said Kamloops RCMP officers set up containment of the area and brought in Police Dog Services to track down the suspect. At approximately 1:45 a.m., officers located and arrested a 37-year-old Kamloops man who is known to police and has no fixed address.

The suspect is expected to appear in Kamloops Provincial Court this monring and is facing several charges including robbery and wearing a disguise with intent.
