Weekend joyride damages Kelowna elementary school field

KELOWNA – RCMP say someone used a vehicle to tear up the grounds of a Kelowna elementary school over the weekend.

Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey says the driver "spun out" in the school field at Rutland Elementary School several times around 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, causing extensive damage.

“Debris from the field, which included dirt and chunks of turf were flung all over the adjacent pedestrian sidewalk,” he says in a media release. “The full extent of the damage caused and the cost to repair those damages is not known at this time.”

School officials found the damage and are working with police to identify who is responsible.
