Looking for a forever home; Kamloops SPCA pet of the week

KAMLOOPS –  Meet Leena, the Kamloops SPCA's hidden gem.

Leena might come across as intimidating because someone tried to make her look "tough" by cropping her ears. As a result, people often overlook or are afraid of her, but in reality, Leena is actually very social and playful girl, according to the Kamloops SPCA.

The Kamloops shelter says Leena eager to meet people and is often waiting patiently, tail and bum wiggling away.

She is a gorgeous two and a half-year-old, American Pitbull Terrier and Cane Carso mix. She is a big dog that gets excited easily and tends to jump up so, the SPCA doesn't recommend her to a home with small children because she could potentially knock them over. The SPCA does believe Leena would do well with older teens.

Leena is still learning so a confident guardian that can work on obedience is important.

Shelter staff noted that Leena appears to be fully house trained but needs work on her leash manners.

Leena needs to be the only dog in the home because she wants to have all the attention for herself. Also, the SPCA doesn't know how she would be around other animals but new guardians should always take precautions and do slow and proper introductions. The terrier in her loves to chase so a cat or small animal could look like a game.

If you like hiking, camping, jogging or other outdoor activities, Leena would make a great companion because Leena is happiest when she's on the move.

Leena, animal ID 445943, is a sweet girl looking for her forever family. If you think she is the right fit for you, go down and visit the shelter, call the SPCA at 250-376-7722, email them at kamloops@spca.bc.ca or visit the website for more information.
