RCMP looking for witnesses to North Shore shooting

KAMLOOPS – RCMP are hoping witnesses to a double shooting yesterday in Kamloops can shed some light on what the motive might have been.

Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Jodi Shelkie says officers executed a search warrant at a home at 217 Nelson Ave. on the North Shore last night, Oct. 23, where two men were shot.

“At this time nothing has been found that indicates what instigated the shots being fired or who the suspects are,” Shelkie says.

Two men were taken to Royal Inland Hospital yesterday. One of the men is still in hospital today, Oct. 24, recovering from a non life-threatening gunshot wound, she says.

The second victim has minor injuries from what police say is “in relation to a gunshot.”

The victims are not cooperating with RCMP.

“It is too early in the investigation to say if this shooting is gang or drug related,” Shelkie says.

Police are asking anyone who say people or vehicles in the area of 217 Nelson Ave. at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 23, to contact the Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
