Racers to willingly run through mud Saturday

OLIVER – Bad weather won't be a problem for competitors in this year's Freak'N Farmer race.

There could be showers and thunderstorms on Saturday with a high of only 17 C but that just means it will be cool and breezy for the racers throwing themselves uphill, covered in mud at a farm in Oliver.

Competitors will race in and through mud, trenches and haul heavy pieces of steel and wood in either a five-kilometre stretch or a grueling 12 km death march. The shorter recreational route will have 10 obstacles throughout and the longer competitive one will have 18. Racers can also expect to lift and place wine barrels, navigate a corn maze, drag a pallet and crawl. The exact type of obstacles will be kept a secret. The courses' location will not be a secret despite the name of the place, Covert Farms.
