MATAGAMI, Que. – Police in northern Quebec have recovered the body of a 45-year-old man who’d been missing since small plane went through the ice on a frozen river last weekend.
Quebec provincial police divers found the body on Monday evening near the scene of Saturday’s incident on the river north of Matagami.
Police have said the ice on Broadback River collapsed under the weight of the aircraft.
Two other men in the plane were able to get to shore unharmed.
The plane had taken off from the Abitibi-Temiscamingue region and was taking the men on a hunting trip.
No names or hometowns have been released.
