KELOWNA – It was a blast of colour on a cloudy and rainy morning in Kelowna.
The first annual Grant Thornton 5K Run in Colour Saturday in Waterfront Park is being called a huge success.
Before the event even started, organizers were thanking their supporters for surpassing the $50,000 goal.
Over 1,100 people participated in the run that saw them blasted with coloured, powdered dye first. It’s kind of like a Hindu religious ceremony meets Canadian fundraiser. There were about 200 volunteers making sure the event ran smoothly.
While all the money hasn’t been counted as donations continue to come in, it’s expected the event will raise $90,000.
All the money collected will go to the Kelowna General Hospital Foundation.
