Truck slams into mobile, close call for Westsyde woman
KAMLOOPS – A startling wake up call for a Westsyde woman Sunday morning.
Just before 8 a.m., a pick-up truck slammed into her mobile home on Oak Hills Boulevard.
“A vehicle rolled down a hill and struck the mobile home with enough force to jar it off its moorings,” Kamloops Fire Rescue assistant chief Mike Adams said. “It was an unusual way to start your Sunday morning.”
The woman in the mobile home wasn’t hurt.
“It was deemed to be a medical condition that lead to the accident,” according to RCMP Cpl. Nick Lee.
The man behind the wheel of the pick-up truck drove off the road.
“I believe he was coming into town from Westsyde when it happened,” said Cpl. Lee.
Because it was a medical condition that caused the crash, no criminal or motor vehicle act charges will be laid.
Both B.C. Hydro and Fortis B.C. were called out to make sure the electricity and gas were turned off.
Until the mobile home can be declared safe by the fire department, the woman needs to find a new place to live. Volunteers with Emergency Social Services are helping with that.
