Celebration of life planned for Vernon teen Traci Genereaux

VERNON – A Vernon teen found dead on a rural farm property in the North Okanagan will be remembered at a celebration of life next week.

Traci Genereaux went missing at the end of May. Just 18 years old when she disappeared, Genereaux would have turned 19 on Oct. 4. Police announced on Nov. 1 that human remains found in October at a property on Salmon River Road were those of Traci Genereaux. Her death is the focus of an ongoing investigation, although the RCMP has not announced any arrests.

Genereaux’s father Darcy says a celebration of life is being held Tuesday, Nov. 21 at 1 p.m. at the Upper Room Mission to remember his daughter. Friends and family are invited to bring flowers, candy and artwork in memory of Traci.

Described as feisty and artistic, Genereaux got involved in drugs and the sex trade in her teen years but was trying to turn things around. Just 4’11”, Genereaux was known for her big blue eyes and creativity.

Police have not revealed the cause of Genereaux’s death but say it is suspicious.

Anyone with information about Traci Genereaux’s movements leading up to her disappearance is asked to call the police tipline at 1-877-987-8477.
