Britain’s ITV, Channel 4 win International Emmys in current affairs, news categories
NEW YORK, N.Y. – Britain’s Channel 4 News and ITV have won the 2013 International Emmys for news and current affairs.
Channel 4 News was the winner in the news category for “The Battle for Homs,” its coverage of the shelling of the Syrian city of Homs by government forces in February 2012 during which American journalist Marie Colvin, a longtime reporter for Britain’s Sunday Times, and French photographer Remi Ochlik were killed.
The award in the current affairs category went to ITV for “Banaz: An Honour Killing,” which chronicles the brutal honour killing of a young British Kurdish woman in suburban London by her own family.
The International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences presented the awards Tuesday night in conjunction with the U.S. News Emmys during a ceremony in New York City.
