Condition of seized Kamloops horses improving: B.C. SPCA

KAMLOOPS – The health of nine horses seized from a Kamloops farm by the B.C. SPCA last week is quickly improving.

B.C. SPCA spokesperson Lorie Chortyk says all of the horses will need some work before they are adopted, but they are doing really well.

"Their body conditions are improving rapidly," she says.

From what investigators have told her, Chortyk says charges will definitely be forwarded to Crown counsel once all of the evidence is collected.

For now, the horses seized from the east Kamloops property are in foster care in the surrounding area, Chortyk says.

B.C. SPCA investigators raided the East Shuswap Road property last Friday, Nov. 10, where they seized nine horses considered to be in poor condition and dug up two deceased horses.

Chortyk said at the time the two horses had "basically starved to death."

The exact location of the property and the identity of the owner will not be made public until, and if, charges are laid.
