Winnipeg police call July deaths of mother, two children, a murder-suicide

WINNIPEG – Winnipeg police are now calling the July deaths of a woman and her two children a double murder-suicide.

Lisa Gibson’s body was found in the Red River three days after the bodies of her two children were found unresponsive in a bathtub in the family home.

Police say they drowned and the criminal investigation into the three deaths is over.

Until now police had not officially ruled out the possibility that someone else did it.

Media reports have said Gibson suffered from postpartum depression.

There have been calls for an inquest to examine what kind of health care she may have received following the birth of her son in the spring.
