KELOWNA – Rutland’s very own Kelowna Chiefs were defeated in their final match of a three game weekend.
It came down to only seconds left in the game but the Chiefs suffered a 5 – 4 loss to the undefeated Kamloops Storm.
It was a scoreless game heading into the second period until Nick Josephs netted his third goal of the season. Kamloops would quickly get on the board and 40 minutes of play would finish at 3 – 2 in favour of the Storm.
Kelowna wouldn’t give up. Scoring back-to-back goals in the third to tie up the game at 4 – 4. Then with 46 seconds left in the third period, Ian Chrystal with the Storm would score the game winner.
Connor DeMelo faced 38 shots on net in the loss. Also scoring for the Chiefs was Chase Astorino, Dylan Jamieson and Jagger Bowles (1G, 1A).
The Kelowna Chiefs are now 3 and 2 in the early 2013-2014 KIJHL season. They get set to take on division rivals the Osoyoos Coyotes on Friday September 27th at Rutland Arena.
