Most actively traded companies on the TSX

Some of the most active companies traded Wednesday on the Toronto Stock Exchange:

Yamana Gold Inc. (TSX:YRI). Miner. Down nine cents, or 1.67 per cent, to $5.31 on 9.9-million shares.

Bombardier Inc. (TSX:BBD.B). Aerospace, rail equipment. Up six cents, or 2.87 per cent, to $2.15 on 8.4-million shares.

B2Gold Corp. (TSX:BTO). Miner. Down 15 cents, or 4.35 per cent, to $3.30 on 7.3-million shares.

First Quantum Minerals Ltd. (TSX:FM). Miner. Down 15 cents, or 1.49 per cent, to $9.94 on 6.4-million shares.

Encana Corp. (TSX:ECA). Oil and gas. Down 24 cents, or 1.88 per cent, to $12.52 on 6.2-million shares.

TransCanada Corp. (TSX:TRP). Oil and gas. Down 37 cents, or 0.62 per cent, to $59.47 on 5.8-million shares.

Companies reporting major news:

National Bank of Canada (TSX:NA). Bank. Down $1.49, or 3.13 per cent, to $46.09 on 2.6-million shares. National Bank had $478 million of net income for the third quarter of its 2016 financial year, up six per cent from the same time last year. The profit amounted to $1.31 per share for the three months ended July 31, up from $1.28 per share in the third quarter of fiscal 2015. After excluding specific items, National Bank earned $486 million or $1.33 per share — up from $444 million or $1.25 per share.
