UPDATE 3:47 p.m. Sept. 25, 2013

Emergency crews are leaving the scene of a ruptured gas line in the area of 32nd Street in Vernon. 

The gas has been turned off in the area and Fortis B.C. has taken over the repair. Road blocks have been removed in the southbound lanes and traffic is flowing again.

2:47 p.m. Sept. 25, 2013

VERNON – Vernon Fire Rescue and Fortis B.C. are responding to a struck natural gas line.

Deputy fire chief Jack Blair confirms a three inch pipe is leaking gas in the 32nd Street area.

The area is being cordoned off and traffic directed around the site. Officials aren’t sure yet how long it will take to reopen the road.
