Lawrence, Harris and Williams all capture CFL player of the week honours

TORONTO – Linebacker Simoni Lawrence, quarterback Trevor Harris and receiver Chris Williams were named the CFL’s players of the week Wednesday.

Lawrence earned weekly honours for registering seven tackles, two sacks, a fumble recovery and interception-return TD in the Hamilton Tiger-Cats’ 42-20 road win over the Toronto Argonauts. Last season, Lawrence was the East Division’s top defensive player with 80 tackles, five sacks and two interceptions.

Harris was recognized after coming off the bench to rally Ottawa to a 45-37 overtime win over the Edmonton Eskimos. Harris was 17-of-19 passing for 292 yards and three TDs, including a 12-yard strike to Brad Sinopoli in overtime.

Williams also played a big role in the Ottawa club’s first win in Alberta, registering eight catches for 176 yards and two TDs. Harris’s first completion in the game was a 71-yard touchdown toss to Williams.
