NEW YORK, N.Y. – The National Hockey League handed St. Louis Blues forward Maxim Lapierre a five-game suspension Friday for boarding San Jose Sharks defenceman Dan Boyle.
The incident occurred at 5:22 of the first period on Tuesday night. Lapierre was assessed a major penalty for checking from behind and a game misconduct.
Lapierre served one game of the suspension while awaiting Friday afternoon’s in-person hearing.
He will forfeit US$28,205.15 in salary.
