Kelowna Rockets down Giants in Vancouver

VANCOUVER – The Kelowna Rockets defeated the Vancouver Giants 5-2 on Friday night, March 6, at the Pacific Coliseum in Vancouver, taking sole possession of first place overall in the WHL in improving to 49-11-4-1 on the season.

Tyrell Goulbourne scored three times in the third period and added an assist as the Rockets broke open a scoreless game in the third en route to the win.

Goulbourne now has 20 goals on the season.

Leon Draisaitl had a goal and an assist while Riley Stadel had the other Rockets marker. Cole Martin and Cole Linaker each added two assists.

Michael Herringer got the start in the Rockets net and was solid as the game was scoreless through two periods of play. Kelowna outshot Vancouver 32-27 in the game.

The Rockets are back home Saturday night as they take on the Spokane Chiefs at Prospera Place. The puck drops at 7 p.m.
