MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – The U.S. Forest Service says the Middlebury Ranger District Office for the Green Mountain National Forest is closing.
The service said Monday that the office, which has been open for 51 years, will be closing on Sept. 29, the last weekday of the current fiscal year.
While the office on U.S. Route 7 will be closing, the services provided by the Forest Service employees who worked there will still be available to the public.
Through December, Forest Service personnel will work part-time out of the offices of the Addison County Chamber of Commerce in Middlebury.
The Forest Service offices in Rutland, Rochester and Manchester will continue to be open five days a week.
