RCMP diffuse possible firearms incident in Okanagan Falls
PENTICTON – RCMP were called to a Cedar Street residence in Okanagan Falls this afternoon following a report about a woman in mental distress with the possibility that firearms were involved.
Police spokesperson Cpl. Ted Manchulenko says in a media release a nearby Okanagan Falls Elementary School and neighbours in the immediate vicinity were locked down or asked to leave their properties as a precaution.
He says a safe conclusion was negotiated to the incident.
Police arrested a man in his late 20s, charged with obstruction, while a woman of the same age was taken into custody under the mental health act and taken to Penticton Regional Hospital for treatment, Manchulenko says.
