Happy holidays from the City of West Kelowna.

Our administrative offices will be closed Christmas Day through New Year’s Day, but emergency and essential services will be provided during this time. Those offices that will be closed are:

  • City Hall at 2760 Cameron Road
  • Operations building at 3717 Elliott Road
  • Utilities building at 2570 Bartley Road
  • West Kelowna Fire Rescue administration at 2708 Ollala Road

Anyone who needs to book a building inspection, submit a development application, pay for a business licence, purchase a transit pass or dog licence or requires other in-person, administrative and financial services can visit City Hall between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. December 18 through 21 and 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. December 22. Offices will reopen by 8:30 a.m. January 2.

Essential and emergency services that will be provided, include:

  • Curbside waste collection (altered schedule, see below for more information)
  • Fire and rescue and first response
  • Roads maintenance
  • Policing
  • Transit service
  • Urgent drainage, sewer and water issues
  • Westbank Cemetery

The arenas at the Mount Boucherie Recreational Complex and Johnson Bentley Memorial Aquatic Centre will offer some programs over the holidays. For information and schedules, please visit www.westkelownacity.ca/recguide.

Curbside garbage and recycling collection will move ahead one day during the weeks of December 25 and January 1. Those who normally receive collection Mondays will put bins at the curb Tuesdays. Tuesday collection moves to Wednesday; Wednesday pickup goes to Thursday; Thursday service skips to Friday; and Friday switches to Saturday. Normal collection schedules will resume January 8. Before university, Taylor spent a year abroad living in Thailand which encouraged her to finish her degree studying in Turkey, both experiences have made her an avid traveller. Taylor graduated from Thompson Rivers University with a degree in Communications and Public Relations. Although born on the coast, Taylor has lived the majority of her life in Kamloops and enjoys what the region has to offer.
