Charges racking up for Peachland mail thieves

KELOWNA – A Peachland couple living in a stolen RV have been returned to jail following their arrest three days ago.

Kelowna RCMP detachment spokesperson Const. Lesley Smith says the man and woman, identified as Julian Hoekstra and Kristina Anderson, had outstanding warrants for their arrest for mail theft and possession of stolen mail when they were arrested Dec. 16 in a rural Peachland location.

They were found living in a stolen 40 foot Dutchman RV worth $37,000. Inside, police found stolen mail including fraudulent documents, credit cards and pre-paid gift cards.

Kristina Anderson, 38, faces additional charges of breach, possession of stolen mail, possession of stolen property, possession of a falsified credit card, fraud and possession of an identity document, in addition to mail theft and theft under $5,000.

Julian Hoekstra, 43, also faces additional charges of two breaches, possession of stolen property over $5,000, possession of stolen mail, possession of stolen property under $5,000, possession of a falsified credit card, fraud, and possession of an identity document in addition to mail theft, theft under $5,000 and breach.

"Our dedicated members continued to work hard to locate and identify those who were profiting from the victimization of others in our communities," Smith said in a release. "Kelowna RCMP efforts continue to be made in returning any stolen mail and property found to their rightful owners."
