Lower-body injury sidelines Bozak for Maple Leafs’ game vs. Penguins

TORONTO – Tyler Bozak will miss the Maple Leafs’ game Saturday night against the Penguins with what the team is calling a lower-body injury.

Bozak’s injury is yet another blow to Toronto, which is already missing wingers Joffrey Lupul (bone bruise in foot) and Nikolai Kulemin (bone chip in ankle), and defenceman Mark Fraser (knee).

The centre played 15:03 in Friday night’s 5-2 loss at the Columbus Blue Jackets, recording an assist. The Leafs had an optional morning skate Saturday morning at Air Canada Centre.

Forward Carter Ashton was recalled from the American Hockey League’s Toronto Marlies, while winger Josh Leivo was sent down after playing Friday. Bozak’s injury means Ashton and Troy Bodie, a healthy scratch against Columbus, were both set to be in the lineup.

Bozak has three goals and three assists in 11 games this season.
