Vernon driver ends up in ditch after hitting patch of ice

VERNON – Police in the North Okanagan are reminding drivers to slow down after a single-vehicle accident yesterday afternoon.

RCMP say they responded to a single-vehicle rollover near Highway 97 and Clerke Road yesterday, Dec. 20, at around 4:40 p.m.

The driver of a Nissan pickup truck was heading northbound on Highway 97 when the vehicle hit a patch of ice, according to an RCMP media release. The driver lost control and ended up in the ditch.

The driver was uninjured and there were no passengers in the vehicle. Police say the road conditions at the time of the incident were very icy.

Vernon-North Okanagan RCMP remind drivers to slow down when road conditions are poor and be prepared for the weather conditions.
