Swedes to deport Bosnian man deemed ‘security risk’

STOCKHOLM – Swedish authorities say a Bosnian man who had sought asylum in Sweden although he was banned from entering Europe’s passport-free area will be expelled.

Immigration agency spokesman Fredrik Bengtsson said Friday the 46-year-old was considered “a security risk” and had been flagged by France in the Schengen Information System that contains national security data.

He said the unidentified man had his asylum request turned down because it was deemed groundless. It’s now up to Swedish police to handle the extradition.

Police say the country’s security service SAPO has been customarily informed.

Authorities haven’t commented on reports in the Sydsvenskan daily that the Bosnian had ties to the Islamic State group.

The man arrived in the city Malmo Monday by plane from Bosnia with a recently-issued passport in his own name.
