Penticton RCMP looking for witnesses to crash involving a pedestrian

PENTICTON – Police in Penticton are asking for witnesses to come forward after a pedestrian was hit by an SUV earlier this week.

RCMP spokesperson Staff Sgt. Annie Linteau says in a news release on Tuesday, Dec. 19 at approximately 10:15 a.m., police received a report of a crash allegedly involving a black SUV and a pedestrian on the Channel Parkway near the old railway bridge in Penticton.

It occurred in the northbound lanes during a heavy snowfall.

Police believe the pedestrian walked west on Duncan Avenue West and turned left onto Channel Parkway before being hit by the SUV, as he was walking south on the curbside of the road.

The 37-year-old pedestrian was taken to hospital with serious injuries and the SUV driver remained at the scene, Linteau says.

Police are continuing to investigate and are asking any witnesses who haven't yet spoke to police to come forward. RCMP would also like to speak to anyone who may have seen the man walking before the crash.
