It was a sweet year for Okanagan apple growers at the 90th annual Royal Agricultural Winter Fair in Toronto this year.
Local fruits scored high taking top spots in various categories, while also plucking the grand and reserve championship awards in three divisions, new varieties, heritage varieties and commercial varieties.
Glen Lucas, B.C. Fruit Grower's Association general manager says results this year are the best Okanagan apples have placed since the national contest was brought back four years ago after a 40-year hiatus.
The fair took place Nov. 2 and local growers competed against other growers from B.C., Ontario and Quebec.
