Almost $1,000,000 to be spent on Fieldhouse repair

KAMLOOPS – The city of Kamloops is going ahead with $855,000 worth of repairs to the Tournment Capital Centre Fieldhouse.

The outside walls of the building are leaking water. The experts the city hired in 2012 say the building’s envelope has failed. The water leaks during the fall and winter in the west concourse and the upper hallway areas.

According to the experts in building envelope technology, the design and the original construction of the fieldhouse are to blame.

The city is hoping that the buildings designer, Stantec Archituecture Ltd., and the general contractor, D and T Developments Ltd., will help pay for the repair costs. If they don’t voluntarily chip in, the city will take them to court to recover the costs.
