CHURCHILL, Man. – One person is in stable condition after a polar bear attack in northern Manitoba.
The attack happened overnight in the Town of Churchill, which is on the shore of Hudson Bay.
RCMP say a bear went after one of two pedestrians it had confronted.
The person who was injured, a male, was left with lacerations and was taken to the local hospital for treatment.
Mounties say the big predator was only scared away when a vehicle drove toward it.
Manitoba Conservation and Water Stewardship tracked the animal and in the process, shot and killed two bears.
