TORONTO – Drake is a proven wizard in the recording studio but fans are learning he’s also a devoted fan of another famous magician.
The “Hotline Bling” performer revealed his obsession with the bestselling Harry Potter book series in an interview with the Hollywood Reporter, published on Wednesday.
He said over the past four years he’s been trying to acquire a first edition of J.K. Rowling’s first book in the series.
He said he recently found a copy of the novel, which was published as “Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone” in most markets, selling for US$160,000.
It’s unclear whether Drake actually bought the book.
Drake spoke to the Hollywood trade magazine as he prepares to sideline his music career for six months to a year to focus on film and TV projects.
He’s already working with Netflix on a revival of the British TV series “Top Boy” and is flirting with some film collaborations with U.S. production company A24, which backed Oscar-winner “Moonlight” and the critically-acclaimed film “The Florida Project.”
