Two taken to hospital after driver crosses into oncoming lane in Peachland

PEACHLAND – Two drivers were sent to hospital today after one of them crossed the centre line causing a collision on Highway 97 in Peachland.

Traffic in both directions was closed today, Jan. 3, after a southbound Nissan Titan struck the vehicle of a 57-year-old woman travelling northbound in a Dodge Durango around 2 p.m.

A media release from police spokesperson Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey says emergency crews had to extricate the trapped driver of the Dodge and she was taken to hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

“The driver of the Nissan Titan pickup truck was also transported to hospital with what are believed to be non-life threatening injuries,” O’Donaghey says.

“The investigation is in the early stages, however there is an indication that the driver of the southbound Nissan Titan may have crossed into the oncoming lanes.”

Traffic through the area is restricted to one lane alternating until the vehicles can be removed.

Witnesses who have not yet spoken to police are asked to call the West Kelowna RCMP at 250-768-2880.
