Correction: Parody-Employee Fired story

ROBBINSDALE, Minn. – In a story Jan. 30 about a college student’s video poking fun at Robbinsdale, Minnesota, The Associated Press reported erroneously that the city has about 55,000 residents. It has about 14,000.

A college student says he lost his seasonal job with the city of Robbinsdale over his online video that pokes fun at his hometown

A college student says he lost his seasonal job with the city in Minnesota over his online video that pokes fun at his hometown.

The Star Tribune reports that 20-year-old Tony Langfellow put together the parody in the form of an old-fashioned tourism ad. In the video, Langfellow and his friends joke about Robbinsdale, Minnesota’s, shrinking cultural charm. Much of it focuses on the controversial demolition of the Terrace Theatre, a 1950s-era movie house that was torn down in 2016 for a grocery store.

Langfellow was fired before he started working at a city warming house.

Parks and Recreation Director Tom Marshall told the Sun Post, a community newspaper, that he could not defend having a person on staff who bashes the city that gives him a paycheque.
