Police release composite sketch of man believed to be behind UBC sex assaults

VANCOUVER – Mounties have released a composite sketch of the man believed to be behind six sexual assaults at the University of British Columbia’s Vancouver campus.

The sketch shows a Caucasian man wearing a hooded sweater, with an olive or darker skin tone, a rounder chin, broad forehead, straight nose and short dark hair.

RCMP Sgt. Peter Thiessen says the man has a tall, thin build, and is believed to be in his mid-20s to 30s.

Thiessen says investigators have received many tips related to the series of attacks that began in April, with three women being assaulted in separate incidents last month alone.

He says Mounties have compiled a list of persons of interest but are frustrated that the suspect, who has attacked women as they walked alone late at night, has not yet been identified.

The University of B.C. says copies of the composite sketch will be distributed across the campus, including student residences, be sent via mass email and be posted on its Stay Safe website.
