Former B.C. premier to chair Lumby-based marijuana facility
LUMBY – A company chaired by a former B.C. premier has applied to grow and distribute medical marijuana from a facility in Lumby.
True Leaf Medicine Inc. has submitted an application to Health Canada to operate the facility under the federal government’s new rules for the system, which came into effect April 1.
Mike Harcourt, who served as premier in B.C. between 1991-1996 and as mayor of Vancouver from 1980-1986 announced he was joining True Leaf as the company’s chair in a press release earlier this week.
Harcourt says True Leaf, which specializes in research and development related to medicinal cannabis, will address problems of safety, scientific efficacy and reliability in the new system.
“By separating fact from folklore, True Leaf has an opportunity to fill in the knowledge gap for both doctors and end users when it comes to aligning a specific ailment with a documented cannabis remedy,” Harcourt said.
The Lumby facility would be overseen by CEO Darcy Bomford, the founder and former CEO of a Vernon based pet nutrition company.

Don’t you love it that the politicians and ex politicians are all jumping on the weed wagon for profit and we still don’t get to smoke it legally. Makes me heave.
