Number 1: Cavaliers rookie Anthony Bennett, top overall pick in draft, hasn’t scored basket

INDEPENDENCE, Ohio – Anthony Bennett was taken first in the NBA draft, and the Cavaliers rookie is still waiting for another first — a basket.

Bennett, from Brampton, Ont., has not scored a field goal in four games, a surprising drought for the No. 1 overall pick. Bennett has missed all 15 shots from the field, including eight 3-pointers.

He’s the fifth rookie since 1985 to begin his career by not scoring a bucket in the first four games.

However, none of the others was picked ahead of every player in the draft.

Cavs coach Mike Brown believes Bennett is pressing because of high expectations. Brown says he’s pleased with Bennett’s defence and has “been tougher and stronger” than anticipated.
