World Series didn’t go long enough for Fox to win week in TV ratings
NEW YORK, N.Y. – It takes more than the final two games of a World Series between two iconic franchises to beat traditional leader CBS in the television ratings.
The Nielsen company said that the sixth game, where the Boston Red Sox beat the St. Louis Cardinals to win the series, reached 19.2 million viewers. That’s nearly five million more than the audience for the fifth game. But the Red Sox win meant no climactic seventh game, which undoubtedly would have been a big draw.
The final game drew a slightly smaller audience than television’s most popular show, “NCIS” on CBS.
CBS won last week despite airing a rerun of “The Big Bang Theory,” TV’s most-watched comedy.
