Sephora is coming to Aberdeen Mall

KAMLOOPS – After weeks of rumour about whether or not Aberdeen Mall was going to be home to a Sephora location, mall management has confirmed it.

Sandra Neufeld, general manager of Aberdeen Mall, says the Sephora store is expected to open this summer.

"Sephora’s been in the top five of requested tenants for a number of years now," she says. "We wanted to be able to bring them to the market… because customers are always asking for Sephora."

The makeup retailer will be replacing Le Chateau in the upper level of the mall and will be approximately 4,300 square feet.

Thanks to population growth, Sephora decided it was the right time to come to Kamloops, Neufeld says.

She says she hears from many customers who travel to Vancouver or Kelowna to shop at the store, or who order online.

"Sephora knew they had a strong customer base that lived in or around the Kamloops area," Neufeld says. "That’s one of the things my team always looks at, we want people who live in Kamloops… to shop at home. Shopping at home is important, it keeps us all employed."

The more people shop locally instead of in bigger centres like Kelowna or Vancouver, the more big name brands the mall is able to bring in, Neufeld says.

She's also optimistic about the vacant Sears location at the mall and has been in conversations with several potential tenants.
