One dead in crash on Trans-Canada near Salmon Arm

The driver of a pickup truck was killed when they crossed the centre line on the Trans-Canada Highway near Salmon Arm and sideswiped a semi truck Tuesday.

Emergency crews were called to the scene of the collision near 3rd Nations Road west of Salmon Arm at around 5:54 p.m., May 21, according to an RCMP media release.

The driver of a westbound pickup crossed the centre line, narrowly missing a passenger vehicle before sideswiping a semi truck.

The driver, and only person in the pickup, was pronounced dead at the scene while the driver of the semi wasn’t injured.

RCMP say witnesses and dash cam footage confirmed the cause of the deadly crash.

Police aren’t releasing the pickup truck driver’s identity.
