HEADS UP: Severe thunderstorm watch issued for Okanagan

Environment Canada is giving a heads up that weather conditions are just right for the development of severe thunderstorms this afternoon, May 23.

The weather office has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for the valley.

“Severe thunderstorm watches are issued when atmospheric conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms,” the watch says.

Along with lightning, the thunderstorms could produce large hail, damaging winds and torrential rainfall.

Environment Canada warns heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads.
