Singer-song writer Joel Plaskett to stop in Lake Country on Canadian tour

Multiple award winning Halifax-based singer-songwriter Joel Plaskett kicks off a cross-Canada tour in September and will be making a stop in Lake Country.

Plaskett has been described as one of the country’s most engaging performers and there’s no question about his abilities as a song writer.

“If you’ve been following his music career over the years, you will have noticed he has taken turns delivering intimate and idiosyncratic singer-songwriter fare, incendiary riff-rock, left-leaning folk rock, as well as conceptual epics and off-kilter feats of musical stamina,” Lake Country cultural development coordinator Ryan Donn said in a media release.

His new album "Rainy Day Janey" was released Thursday.

Plaskett has won numerous honours over the past quarter century including a Juno, East Coast Music awards, Canadian Folk and Music awards and was nominated twice for the Polaris award.

“Backed by his band, the Emergency, and racking up a growing roster of anthemic singalongs, Plaskett worked his way up from small clubs to opening for Paul McCartney and the Tragically Hip, and filling larger venues with his own devoted audience,” the release reads.

Tickets for his performance at the Creekside Theatre in Lake Country go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, May 24, at www.creeksidetheatre.com.
