Kelowna RCMP raid on drug dealer’s home nets guns, drugs and cash

What started with a traffic stop of a Kelowna man ‘known to police’ ended with a raid on the driver’s home and the seizure of guns, drugs and cash almost a week ago.

Officers with the RCMP’s Strike Force stopped the vehicle being driven by a man known to be involved in the drug trade on Friday, May 24, according to an RCMP media release issued today, May 30.

RCMP said illicit drugs were seen and the driver was arrested. Officers continued to search the vehicle and found a “large quantity of suspected illicit drugs,” the release read.

Officers, armed with a search warrant, raided the suspect’s home and found more than $43,000 in cash, 1.25 kilograms of cocaine, 799 grams of fentanyl, 133 grams of meth, 600 prescription pills, a .40 calibre handgun and a .22 calibre handgun with a suppressor.

RCMP don't say when the search warrant was executed or where the suspect was living.

The suspect has been released from custody. No word from police on what charges he will face.

RCMP said because the investigation is still active, more arrests may be made.

“Police encourage members of the pubic to contact the Kelowna RCMP if they have information related to the local drug trade or gang activities,” the release read.
