Barcelona’s Lionel Messi leaves game with 3rd injury of season

SEVILLE, Spain – Barcelona forward Lionel Messi has suffered his third leg injury of the season during the first half of Sunday’s Spanish league match at Real Betis.

Messi appeared to pick up the injury during a sprint while challenging for the ball with a Betis defender in the 18th minute.

He immediately told his team dugout, and Andres Iniesta replaced him in the 21st.

Messi went straight to the bench and sat alongside the rest of his teammates.

Messi has missed several games this season with nagging muscle injuries. He also missed the final stretch of last season with a right hamstring pull.
