Robert Redford honoured by Utah governor for on-camera, off-camera contributions to state

SALT LAKE CITY – Robert Redford has been honoured by Utah’s governor for his on- and off-camera contributions to the state.

Gov. Gary Herbert expressed gratitude to the 77-year-old Redford at a Saturday night gala in Salt Lake City that was attended by some 500 people, including U.S. Sen. Orrin Hatch and Salt Lake City Mayor Ralph Becker.

Redford is the owner of the Sundance ski resort and the founder of the Sundance Film Festival and Sundance Institute.

Some of his movies, including “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid” and “Jeremiah Johnson,” were filmed in Utah. And the actor, director, entrepreneur and environmental activist calls Utah home.
