Man in custody after stabbing at skate park

VERNON – A late night altercation at the skate park sent one man to hospital and the other to court.

Just after midnight on Saturday, police received a report of a stabbing. Officers spoke to a 37-year-old man, the victim, later that night at the hospital.

“He had received several non-life-threatening stab wounds to the shoulder area,” RCMP spokesperson Gord Molendyk said.

The 23-year-old suspect was arrested at his residence on 24th Avenue.

“The people involved in this altercation knew each other,” Molendyk said. “The skate board park is just where they chose to settle their differences.”

As part of the investigation a search warrant was executed at the residence to secure any associated evidence in the case.

The 23-year-old man remains in custody for court today  facing charges of aggravated assault and assault with a weapon.
