BUENOS AIRES, Argentina – Former Argentine President Cristina Fernandez says she doesn’t fear the prospect of jail.
Fernandez spoke in an interview with several news media outlets published Saturday on her Facebook account, saying: “I’m not afraid of going to jail, at all.”
She noted that has always adhered to her political principles despite any possible consequences.
Argentina’s president from 2007-2015 spoke with a small group of national and international journalists at her home in the country’s south.
She maintained she had been the target of political persecution since President Mauricio Macri replaced her in December. She was dogged by corruption allegations during her presidency and is now the subject of probes focusing on alleged money laundering and her government’s handling of the dollar futures market.
She has denied any wrongdoing.
