Kamloops home invasion leads to search warrant of home

KAMLOOPS – After a complaint of a home invasion, police have now requested a search warrant for a residence in Dallas.

Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Jodi Shelkie says in a news release that police were called to a residence on Badger Drive early this morning, Jan. 16.

Police got a report that a group of people were yelling and kicking in the door, Shelkie says. Police attended and found two people inside the home who were the victims of an alleged home invasion.

The suspects fled the area in a vehicle and police made patrols but the suspects were not located.

"While investigating the break and enter and assault of the residents, police found evidence of other criminal activity within the home," Shelkie says. "The house has been secured and Kamloops RCMP are now requesting a search warrant."

Shelkie says the victims are currently not cooperating with police. It's not known if the home invasion was targeted or if the residents knew the suspects.

They had minor injuries but refused ambulance attendance.
